The Chief Executive of the Property Services Regulatory Authority (PSRA), Mr Tom Lynch, today welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Justice and Law Reform of his intention to amend the Property Services (Regulation) Bill 2009 to enable the PSRA to establish and maintain a Property Price Register.
He said that the Authority has already had discussions with other public bodies, including the Departments of Justice and Law Reform, Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Revenue Commissioners regarding the development and establishment of such a register. While, it is intended that the register will provide details of all property sales by reference to address, sale price and date of sale, the final shape and content of the register will be determined by the legislation which is currently being drafted.
Mr Lynch said that once the new Authority was fully established on a statutory basis he would make the introduction of the new register one of his priorities.
